mom the fashion consultant

Posted in talk shop

With the kids safely in school, I could shop for my own stuff yesterday without being pulled in different directions. Teens are still teens. They want to think they made the right decision on clothes and stuff, but they still need a second/third/fourth opinion to convince themselves.

Which is good in a way. Moms love to feel needed. So I’d usually end up waiting outside fitting rooms waiting to give my expert opinion. I think though that’s half the fun of shopping.

Having said that, shopping solo is sometimes a necessary evil. I can focus better and move faster, and bypass some of the stuff I’m not keen on looking at. The first hour is really liberating. By the second hour, I’m missing the kids’ running commentary already.
