recycling gifts

Posted in tips & ideas

I gave some family members (we won’t mention names here) some t-shirts. No special occasion. I just happened to see some nice t-shirts while shopping and thought they’d like them. They seemed happy enough to receive them but I’ve never, ever seen them wear those shirts.

Could it be that they didn’t like them after all? Have you ever received gifts that you didn’t like or couldn’t use for whatever reason? What do you do with them?

We can’t return them because very few stores here have return policies. Besides it would be considered rude in our culture, I guess. Instead of wasting a perfectly good thing, I say re-wrap it an pass it along to another person. They may appreciate it or find a use for it.

Do you have any other ideas on how to recycle gifts?

I donate most of those types of items to charity.

The best thing to do with those gifts is keep it for a while you might need them, who knows. And if you think that they are staying some quite a longtime in your closet, dispose it by giving to the less fortunate. In some point, you’ve been too generous!
