teak furniture for the great outdoors

I have to admit, I’m pretty confused. I visited a friend and he has one of those teak benches in his living room. He doesn’t have any particular theme for the room except for some bamboo shoots in a vase on one of his side tables.
I’m not sure teak benches are the most comfortable to be sitting in to watch TV. They’re kinda stiff and hard on the butt even with the thin cushion that usually comes along with it.
So I’m wondering here because I always thought teak chairs and such are predominantly outdoor furniture pieces. There are some beautifully polished teak wood sets I’ve seen that would be very practical for outdoor use.
In Bali, many of the resorts have teak garden furniture for hotel guests to just sit out in the evenings to enjoy the cool breezes. Set among tropical shrubs and flowers, they’re really make a great place to have your picture taken too
