soft lenses, to try or not to try?

I received a voucher from Better Vision for a pair of free contact lenses. It’s been in my handbag and I’d almost totally forgotten about it until yesterday.
Steev, who’s gotten rather vain lately, has decided he wants to try contacts. I guess when you’re 16, you’re game to try anything including popping a foreign object into your eyeball, something that would’ve made him go ‘eww’ a year ago.
So off he went to interrogate our favorite Better Vision (BV) man. The offer is for disposable soft lenses that last for a month, and then you throw them away. Steev isn’t very short-sighted so if you ask me, he doesn’t really need them except for vanity reasons.
He seems a little hesitant after BV Man told him soft lenses are very prone to infections if you don’t clean them properly. So I’m leaving him to decide hopefully before the offer expires
