beware, Crocs on escalators!

If you recall, I’m not a big fan of Crocs (as in that bulky rubbery thing they call a shoe). Well, my only problem with it has been its look until just now while reading an article on the Washington Post.
Apparently the soft gum base of Crocs has a tendency of getting caught in the steel teeth of escalators. Well, I can imagine the soft rubber sort of melding into those nasty teeth. It can be pretty hard to pull up off them, I guess. So for kids, this would be even more tricky.
On April 26, 2007, a 3-year-old girl had her Crocs caught in an escalator at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The result was she had to have 2 toes partially amputated.
In November last year, a 2-year-old in Singapore had her big toe ripped off when her imitation Crocs got stuck in an elevator.
Wow, this is serious
! I never knew it could be as bad as losing toes! But if you think about it, this could happen with stiletto heels and other soft plastic shoes as well.
So please be aware of the potential of Crocs on escalators if you have kids and elderly folks who wear them.
