screaming at my internet connection

Some days, my internet connection really drives me up the wall. When I’m in a rush to get something out, it slows to a crawl. Let’s just say, the connection’s got a mind of its own!
When I hear distant thunder, I fly to unplug my modem before it gets nuked by lightning, which has happened a couple of times. I heard that they’ve got all the fiber optic cables in place, so why don’t they just switch to using those instead of these dumb telephone lines.
Unfortunately I could complain till the cows come home but there’s not much of a choice when it comes to internet service providers. They’re all equally bad 
!
If switching ISP makes a difference, I’d do it in a minute. What’s worse is I could be jumping from the frying pan into the fire, know what I mean 
?
- shopping for service providers
- a VOIP phone system that eases your life
- can’t complain about the traffic
- beauty al fresco
- shopping ain’t enough for them
