how safe are student haircuts?

I remember the first time I heard about student haircuts, I shivered a little and wondered who would trust their crowning glory to someone using your hair to experiment and learn about hair styling.
What if something goes wrong and then they have to shave you bald to cover up their mistake? I mean, Britney Spears might not mind but I would 
!
Then one of my girl friends (the bravest one of them all) decided to go try out this service partly because she wanted to save some money. Student cuts are much cheaper because well, they’re using your hair to learn - yikes!
But you know, we were all wrong. These students are complete newbies. They’ve already gone to a hair school like Regency Beauty Institute and learnt the ropes.
The ones who cut your hair are using yours only for practice. They’re already pretty good and they know what they’re doing so you’re in safe hands. At any rate, they’re working under the supervision of their hairstyling guru.
That’s why my friend’s cut turned out like a professional cut except that it cost wa-aay less than what a professional would’ve charged. Seriously!
