what’s the big deal with Big Apple?

I’m pretty sure most of you know that Big Apple Donuts has opened at The Curve. Not being a big fan of donuts, I was obviously the last to know. The kids told me their friends at school have been raving about the place and that we had to, absolutely had to check it out.
So off we went last weekend, I think it was. Man, we could smell the place from a few stores away as far back as Friday’s, I have to say. Of course, it wasn’t quite the welcome smell we’ve come to love from places like Famous Amos and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.
Big Apple exudes a buttery smell that makes you feel fat just breathing it in. If the smell is loaded with calories, can you imagine what eating it means? Well, you gotta try everything once, so we braved the ’stink’ (as the girls prefer to call it) and ordered our first dozen.
I wasn’t keen to order so many for a start but Steev promised he’d eat them all if we didn’t like them. Fine. But as far as my experiences with food goes, anything that’s hyped up and raved about can’t be that good. Just because everyone else thinks it’s good doesn’t necessarily mean it is.
True enough, these turned out to be more hype than donuts. The girls and I found nothing to rave about. Steev only likes two flavors - the peanut butter and snow-topped ones. So I guess you won’t find us in line.
