feeling ripped off

Steev went for his high school graduation and prom a couple of weeks ago. I have to confess, proms are new to me because in my time, high school proms didn’t exist.
So it goes without saying that I didn’t know how much a prom could set me back. We had to fork out well over a hundred bucks just for him to attend both. I didn’t mind paying for the prom as it was a dinner and dance held at a hotel (albeit not a 5-star hotel).
The graduation ceremony was something of a rip-off. In addition to charging the kids for the photo and flowers they would be receiving, they also charged entrance fees for parents.
It was pretty expensive considering that the photographer was some semi-professional who didn’t do a good job, and the flowers were wholesale flowers the organizer had bought and then tied into bunches with a simple bow.
