Yes, the Christmas decor is definitely up at the major malls. Yay! I can really feel the festive atmosphere and the instinct to shop. I’m not sure when Christmas started to become such a commercialized event.
Back in the good old history lessons, we learnt Christmas is a religious event signifying the birth of Christ. But now it looks like everyone regardless of religion is caught up in the spirit of Christmas come December.
A friend of mine is busy stocking up Christmas presents for her husband + kids, her parents + her siblings + their kids, her parents-in-law + her siblings-in-law + their kids, her sister’s parents-in-law + her sister’s siblings-in-law + their kids, all of her colleagues at work, her friends + their kids, her husband’s friends + their kids… !
I’m guessing that’s easily 100 people or more she needs to shop for every. single. Christmas! Plus she’s organizing barbecues and Christmas parties for all of these folks so they’ll have a chance to exchange gifts! And the best part is she isn’t even a Christian
!
Believe it or not, some of the folks she shops for she doesn’t even know who they are! I think that’s being ridiculous even if she has lots of money to burn! Call me selfish but I wouldn’t waste my time and I’d much rather be splurging on myself
