With the rising prices this year, I’m sure many families will be forced to get down to some meticulous budgeting and planning just ahead of the festival especially with the cooking oil shortage we’re having now.

I went to Tesco thinking I’d get a 5kg bottle if they still have any left, just in case. I only have one 5kg bottle at home. Shame on me, I’m the big believer in bulk buying. But guess what, the shelves were mostly empty! I’m always the last to know. Hmm.

Well, no big deal, I guess I could make do with olive oil instead. It’s just that I’m worried prices will skyrocket since demand is so hot.

I might look around elsewhere tomorrow and see if I can secure just one bottle. Not to join in the panic buying or anything, it’s only because I have a bunch of hungry kids in the house I need to feed and Chinese New Year is just around the corner.
