the color red
Chinese New Year is going full swing at the mall. I was there today and the color red is everywhere. Thank goodness there aren’t too many Chinese New Year songs being played. Those songs drive me nuts! Seriously. I can’t think when they’re blasting away.
Aargh, Chinese New Year. I try to keep a low profile every year to avoid the obligatory visits to relatives’ houses as much as I can. For one thing, listening to the annual bragging and gossips is much too stressful for me.
For another, I’m no fan of Chinese New Year cookies (or any cookies for that matter!) and I hate having to pretend that I love them just because some relative or friend made them herself.
For me and a couple of friends, this is the time to gobble Western food and fast food to avoid being ripped off on paying the exorbitant CNY meal prices. Add a few mushrooms and double the price. Add a few shrimps and you can kiss your credit card good luck.
So is there anything I like about CNY? Yes, the mandarin oranges and traffic-free roads :lol: .
