first weekend of Fashion On 1 Spring/Summer Collection

The fashion shows at Fashion On 1 at One Utama are still on right now. I think they end this weekend so there’s still time to catch a couple of them if you happen to be out shopping.

I managed to catch a few shows last weekend. This was the DKNY Jeans show (below) which coincided with the opening of their new store on the ground floor of One Utama.

As you can see, all the models were clad in red or had some article of red on them, it probably has to do with red being an auspicious color for their store’s opening.

Promod’s collection (below) featured heavily on scarves, as you can see. Considering our very hot weather, and the fact that many shopping malls are turning down their air-cons to save cost, a scarf is the last thing I need, quite frankly.

It looks like pantaloon (or what I call balloon) pants are making a comeback. They look great if you have the right kind of legs, long, slim ones, that is. Don’t try them on thunder thighs because they’ll end up looking even more thunderous  .

more flexible rewards for your frequent flyer miles

So what do Credit Cards and Oil Prices have in common? In recent days, I was reading about the price of oil reaching US$120 per barrel and who knows how high it will climb to eventually?

The rise in oil prices will deeply affect the price of transportation. Ugh, what, does that mean fewer holidays or worse still, none at all *boo hoo*?

Not really because surely you’ve heard of Frequent Flyer credit cards? Well, if you use a Frequent Flyer credit card, you can chalk up your miles and redeem them against bonuses and other rewards.

And these rewards have gotten better of late. You’re no longer restricted to exchanging those hard-earned miles for more travel miles alone.

Yes, now you can redeem them for Broadway tickets at online auctions, seat upgrades. merchandise and even magazine subscriptions. How’s that for more flexible and much more exciting redemption offers? I definitely like the sound of this :) .

save time and gas by shopping online

Posted by clair on , gadgets & electronics, tips & ideas,

Now that the PC Fair is over, are you just finding out that you may have missed buying something from there? Well, I’m just starting another list for the next PC Fair.

But if you’re in a hurry and can’t wait till then, you could order your computer memory or accessories online. My biggest concern with online purchases is the shipping charges.

But if you’re in the US, you’re more than likely to enjoy free shipping as many web stores offer this as an incentive. And why not, if shipping is free? You can save time and gas money by ordering online and having the items delivered to you.

trawling the malls, a new form of exercise?

Posted by clair on , health & beauty, talk shop,

It seems older, retired folks make up for most of the foot traffic at shopping malls on weekdays. If you don’t believe me, look around and you’ll see what I mean.

One of my father’s old cronies consider walking the malls a form of exercise. He walks every floor of a different shopping mall each day of the week and boasts that he ‘exercises in air-conditioned comfort’ .

He says he doesn’t need a gym membership or expensive best diet pills to lose weight. He keeps trim by trawling the malls every day from opening to closing time. Cute!

fashion gala at Fashion On 1

Posted by clair on , events, fashion & style, shopping places,

Fashion On 1 kicks off at 1 Utama tonight with the Fashion Gala, an invitation-only event. Frankly I’m not sure what invitation-only means because the event will be held in an open area at the Oval on the lower ground floor.

So the show will still be visible from the balconies on the upper floors. I can only imagine that invited guests will enjoy the comfort of something similar to home theater seating while everyone else will have to stand. We’ll have to see how it goes tonight.

save on printing labels

Posted by clair on , books & stationery, sales & discounts,

These days, very few people make labels manually any more unless they’re for home use.

If you run a business, it would definitely be more efficient to print on Thermal labels to save time and cost.

If you’re looking to buy in bulk, be sure to check out Label Liquidators for some of the best prices on labels and label printers.
