so what good is a shopping list?

The midyear holidays are here and so are the sales. Yay! My shopping list is growing longer, hehe. By the way, do you believe in shopping lists, or are you someone who shops off the top of your head?

I never used to make shopping lists when I was single. It was too much of a hassle to make a list for just a few things.

But being a mom of three, it’s next to impossible not to have a shopping list because I shop mostly during sales which means we’ve got so-oo many things to buy, and I buy in bulk. So can you imagine if I don’t have a list?

My shopping list is ongoing, which means it’s in my pocket PC all the time, and me and the kids just keep adding to it and striking off items we’ve bought. Without my shopping list, I’d be lost and end up going back to the mall umpteen times to pick up things I’ve missed.

Trust me, if you’re a parent, you need a shopping list. With kids running circles around your legs, you can save yourself a lot of hassle by having a list.

I read an article talking about lists, and how fascinated we are with them. It is SO true! I buy magazines all the time with lists advertised on the front, 10 best hair cuts, 4 ways to better your day….etc. I also like making lists, because I feel so successful when crossing something off!

I have found that I tend to buy less impulse items if I have a list. When I have one, I tend to go for just what is on it and be done. However, I do, also, find myself forgetting things I need because I didn’t “see” it so didn’t remember I needed it. It seems to be six of one, half a dozen of the other for me & grocery lists.

I totally agree that there’s a huge sense of achievement in crossing off an item.

It’s oftentimes impossible to list everything so I still browse and come home with stuff that’s not on my list.
