the weekend to get all your shopping done

Posted by clair on events, shopping places

If you’ve been saving up to go shopping, this is the big weekend to do it. It’s also the last weekend before the end of the Mega Sales Carnival, so it’s your last chance.

I was at the Curve this morning and found out they’ve closed the main road for the fireworks and concert tonight. I think it is, or at least that’s what my kids tell me.

1 Utama has some tents up but we’re not sure if they’re having fireworks too since their website doesn’t have any info about that.

So I guess we’re headed to the Curve tonight if the kids drag me there  ?? Y’all know I hate getting stuck in jams and going in circles like a hawk trying to find parking! So let’s see how it goes.

missed the Big Apple twice

Posted by clair on , travel & transport,

I missed going to New York a couple of times simply because the timing wasn’t right. Back then, my college roommate and I were planning to catch the cheap flight to go see the Big Apple.

I think we worked ourselves up to the extent that we really thought we were going to make it. But each time the airlines were offering cheap tickets, it was smack in the middle of our college exams.

Some of our other friends in other courses managed to make it and they just wouldn’t let us hear the end of their wonderful trip! Duh!

Ya, ya, go ahead and turn us green with envy by telling you toured the Big Apple on one of those NYC Bus Charters which took you to see Central Park and New York Harbor and Brooklyn Bridge!

The Brooklyn Bridge!! I so wanted to see that! It’s in one of the Backstreet Boys’ songs and I would’ve walked to the ends of the earth to see it. And all my roomie and I got to see were the photos of it.

Bottom line is those bus charters will take you to see all the famous sights, place of interest and do all the touristy stuff you want. Just get me to the Brooklyn Bridge!

protein removal tablets, where are you?

Posted by clair on home & garden

I didn’t think looking for protein removal tablets for my contact lenses would be so hard. I called up my usual optical store to ask if they have my brand in stock.

I did this because the last time I was there to buy my contact lens solution, they were out of stock. So I thought I’d best play it safe this time by calling first.

Good thing I called because they’re out of stock! So I decided to go to the mall and check out a couple of other optical stores myself. The two I went to didn’t have the brand I wanted.

But the guy at the second store suggested I checked the drug store. Hahaha, you’d better believe it, that’s where I found my protein tablets. But why the drug store and not the optician’s? Search me *shrug*.

impossible not to succeed

Posted by clair on , talk shop,

I met an ex-colleague who is now the owner of a restaurant. His business must be booming and he must be busy as I hardly see him at his restaurant much.

But today, he jumped out at me as I was passing by. Hmm, he sure has put on weight and he looks happy.

I guess his is your classic success story. Rich kid. Decided to try his hand at the food business. Family support all the way. It’s hard to fail.

I mean, if he had gone into commercial real estate or any other business for that matter, it would’ve been close to impossible for him not to succeed. Don’t you just envy people like that?

should you wear short shorts?

Posted by clair on ,

Looks like short shorts are in this season. Well, they must be. The whole world’s wearing them at the mall, and the stars are wearing ‘em. Found this photo of Jessica Simpson on People.

Dare I say short shorts look flattering on people with slim legs? If I had thunder thighs, I should probably stay away from, know what I mean?

Fashion is, after all, not a life and death thing like medical alert bracelets. You don’t have to wear them if they don’t look good on you. That’s what a mirror is for.

comparison-shopping toiletries

Posted by clair on , talk shop,

I finally did get shopping today. It’s Wednesday and it’s free parking day at 1 Utama, so what better day to go?

I figured the bills, groceries and life insurance quotes can wait. Let me do some real shopping first.

So I headed out with the kids to grab some lunch and then went to buy a bunch of toiletries.

Like I say, I always compare prices and when it comes to toiletries, it’s a good thing Guardian, Watson and Jusco are just one floor from each other.

Makes it so much easier for me to run up and down to compare prices and to buy whichever item is cheaper at whichever store. So I always get the best deal.
