shopping with eco-bags
The other day, I tried to play my small part in being eco-friendly. So when I went grocery shopping, I brought along these few recyclable bags so I wouldn’t have to use the plastic ones that the store gives out.
The thing with eco-bags are that they are quite a bit bigger than your regular plastic bag. So they can hold a lot more stuff. Yes, and that’s exactly what I did. I tried to cram all of my shopping into those 3 or 4 eco-bags that I’d brought.
Came time to lift them from the shopping cart into my car boot, I swore even if I’d swallowed a handful horse supplements, I couldn’t have lifted those bags up. You’ll be surprised how heavy a few bottles of milk and drinks can be!!
Whoa!! I honestly couldn’t have gotten all my groceries into the car if my son weren’t with me that day. So much for trying to do my part for the environment!

two-pronged approach to acne
I’m happy that my son’s skin has cleared quite a bit after drinking some cooling drinks. Like many teens, his skin is quite susceptible to breakouts and I’ve been looking for acne cures that are simple and effective.
He doesn’t have the patience to follow up with the regiment of applying the acne creams I’ve been piling up on him. That’s why nothing seemed to really work for him.
But lately it seems after drinking some cooling herbal teas, his complexion has improved drastically. So I’m really encouraged and now I’ve turned my attention on boiling herbal drinks for him to drink when he gets back from college.
Looking for an effective acne cure? Try this two-pronged approach – use both a cream and guzzle cooling drinks.

we still gotta eat!
Yes, you’ve all heard me talk about trying to cut back on eating out. Trouble is shopping isn’t just shopping. A lot of times, it’s eating out and it’s starting to get expensive with the ravenous appetites of my teens and fuel prices the way they are!
Even a simple meal at McD’s can cost over 10 bucks a head. Yes, in case you haven’t noticed, McD’s has raised their prices, TGIF now charges for extra sauce, and the service charges and tax all add up quite nicely, thank you.
I hope it doesn’t come down to having to start ourselves on appetite suppressants to cut down on the cost of eating out
. Nah, I’m just kidding. We still got to eat and definitely growing kids have to eat. The thing is finding ways to eat more nutritiously for the same amount of money.

shopping in my crystal ball
I’m looking in my crystal ball and I’m seeing some shopping sprees coming up… let’s see,.. in the near, yes, very near future.
Alas, I’m so going to hand on to my wallet and try not to overspend. Yep, times are bad but my friend will be visiting from the US so I’m expecting that we’ll be out a lot when she’s here.
The last time she was here, let’s see, must’ve been 7 or 8 years ago, she shopped so much she actually had to buy an extra Samsonite suitcase just to be able to cart back everything she’d bought.
When she got to the airport, she had to pay extra for excess baggage and she was not pleased with that at all. What to do? Things are comparatively much cheaper here so she couldn’t resist
.
I’m not sure what her plans are this time. I’ll have to wait and see when she gets here. It’s going to be a short trip so I hope she has time to shop.

shopping with picky eaters
Food is one of the joys of shopping. On a good day, we can all agree on where to eat and we end up having a blast. But many times, it can be a problem especially since my kids have different tastes.
My daughters are much more adventurous when it comes to food and are usually game to try something new. But my son tends to stick with what he likes and won’t venture to order something new.
So very often, I will try out new recipes at home like maybe sweet potato casserole to see if my son likes it. He thinks he hates sweet potatoes from the smell but the truth is he’s never tried it before. So I have to test the waters first.

Playstation 3 is here…finally!
Two years after the Playstation 3 was first launched in the US and Japan, it’s finally arrived at our shores. More surprisingly, they managed to build up a bit of hype surrounding the launch here at 1 Utama last Saturday.

Apparently some folks had been camping outside 1 Utama two nights ahead of the launch. I don’t envy them sleeping on the cold hard floor at the mercy of the mosquitoes.
As it turned out, Saturday itself wasn’t too hot a day though the launch area was very smoky as the crowd started building up when the mall opened at 10am.

As always, no launch of big boys’ toys is ever complete without the scantily-clad promoters standing helplessly around. Sadly they don’t often succeed in prettying up the place.
