faucet shopper, that’s me
Right, so my kitchen faucet decided to burst and make a fountain over my sink on a Saturday morning. Yes, that would be yesterday, the day I’m not sure if any plumbers willing to come out and fix it for me.
Well, trust my regular plumbing company to be there for me
. The plumber who showed up was a a true hero who helped me save money.
He said it’d be much more economical for me to go buy the kitchen faucet myself and he’ll come install in for me next week. If his company supplies it, he would have to charge me an overhead on it.
Sounds reasonable enough. So he proceeded to describe exactly what I was to buy. Even made a drawing of it for me so I wouldn’t mess up and buy the wrong thing.
And off I went to shop for kitchen faucets like some kind of pro with my new-found knowledge… and ended up buying this. I hope I bought the right thing. Even with his diagram, I can’t be sure. Well, we’ll find out tomorrow.

advice from a shopaholic
Maybe I’m being picky but I notice that, in light of this economic crunch that’s hit us like a rock, many malls are really, and I mean, really cutting back on the one thing they shouldn’t be cutting back on.
What’s that? The air-conditioning, of course. Not when the malls are packed with the shopping crowd this time of year. Yes, shopping is like mesothelioma, like a drug these days even when we ourselves should be cutting back and saving for when the rock boulder hits!
That said, I guess it does make sense to do all my shopping done when there are sales and discounts. I’m a chronic bulk shopper and I always cart home truckloads of stuff and then hands off and not buy these items again till the next sale.
Still, there’s no reason to turn the air-conditioning down. Anyone from the malls reading this? It’s stifling and it’s bad air circulating, so if you want us to buy more, more, more, the shopping conditions have to be right so we’ll stick around and bust our credit cards, savvy?

Savings Sale
The Mega sales are finally here. Wait a minute, I think it’s now called Savings Sale. Not as catchy. Too many name changes causes confusion to the consumer and the tourist.
But I guess the objective is to impress on us that we’re going to be saving even as we fork out the money we should really be saving in light of this economic crisis
.
At any rate, I’m glad I waited because although it seemed like many of the stores were having sales this week, I notice they’ve done like a quick update and increased the scope of the sales.
The Christmas decor is up. I was at Sunway Pyramid early last week and took this picture at the new wing. Looks like they’re really early getting us into the holiday mood.

Pikom PC Fair round 3
Okay, I admit I’m a little clueless sometimes. I didn’t know the Pikom PC Fair is held three times a year. I always thought it’s two.
But I’ve just heard the third one will be happening at the KLCC Convention Center from December 12 – 14, 2008, so consider yourself informed.
If you’ve just about had enough with your cranky used cisco which you paid big bucks for way back in 1998, it’s time to make your way down to the PC Fair to buy a new one. They’re not that expensive any more these days.

I love warehouse sales
We have some of the biggest, longest shopping malls here in the city. This being the beginning of the shopping season, can you imagine how much walking we’ll be doing? Between going to the gym and going shopping, I’d be crazy not to pick shopping
!
I hate to admit it but we sometimes spend the entire day shopping, from the moment the mall opens till almost closing time. Yep, when you have as many people to shop for as I do, you won’t need Lipovox in December, that’s for sure.
This year, I’ll probably scale down my shopping a little and try not to blow my budget. Actually there are lots of ways to spend less if you comparison shop and keep your eyes peeled for good sales.
Warehouse sales are my favorite but only for certain items. There are usually lots of warehouse sales at this time of year. You just have to be a bit careful to inspect the items for possible damage or expiry.

lost at the mall
I haven’t been to Sunway Pyramid in a whole year, I think. The last time I was there was when the new wing was just opened. I tend to get lost now that the mall has almost doubled in size with the addition of that new wing.
I was there to drop someone off at the hotel. Embarrassing as it was, I had to stop every five minutes to reference the digital signage maps along the way and to ask someone to point me in the right direction.
The Christmas decor is up and the stores were beckoning. Luckily the kids and I were hungry and decided to spend our money on a nice dinner instead. When it comes to restaurants, we were so spoilt for choice we ended up walking up and down undecided.
Pity we had to leave right after dinner. I really wanted to do some shopping
because I noticed some stores that I’ve not seen before at other malls. I got to go back there one of these days before Christmas.
