moo-ving, you say?
I was talking to an uncle the other day about how many years he’s lived at his house. Well, almost 30 years to be exact and he says he can’t understand why some people seem to enjoy moving.
I mean, naturally you get used to staying in a certain place and it starts to grow on you because everything so familiar and convenient. Yet, every year we hear of relatives moving.
No doubt it must be quite exciting moving to a new place but I get a headache just thinking about the shipping boxes and dust and moving vans.
Not to mention that I would have to move my kids to new schools, etc. It’s just too much of a hassle. So sure everyone else can move in the Year of the Moo but I’m staying put

what do you do with your digital photos?
I’ve taken a lot of photos this festive season. I usually back them up to a CD and store them.
Before the days of CDs, I used the tape drives in my office to do the job. Well, the thing is I seem to have lost all of those tapes when I was moving office some years ago.
What upsets me is that those were photos of my kids taken when they were much younger. I never thought to print them out but maybe it’s time I really sat down and started doing that before my CDs go missing.
How do you handle your digital photos?

need a break after the festive break
Now that the festivities are over, well, almost, there’s like 10 more days till Chinese New Year officially ends, I guess I can kick back and take a deep breath. We’ve had such a busy few weeks preparing for Chinese New Year that I really deserve to crawl into one of those Outer Banks rentals right now and hibernate like a grizzly bear.
I will be very honest. I’m tired, too tired to even go shopping. Well, we did so much shopping and window-shopping over Christmas so what do you expect?
I took the kids out to try out a new Mexican restaurant today and after that, we strolled into the grocery store and I picked up a few things. That’s it, just enough food to last us till the weekend. Then I have to do a big grocery trip to make sure we’re stocked up before school starts next week.

warning, more shopping ahead
We were in such a rush before Chinese New Year that I forgot my son needed a new pair of pants. By the time he reminded me, we’d completed our shopping and the malls being so crowded, I decided against making a trip out just for those pants.
I figure we could always get them at the next sale. I’m guessing that with the current state of the economy, retailers will be more than eager to have more sales in the coming months. As it is, I’m surprised to see that some stores still have their sales on when I went to the mall yesterday and it is after Chinese New Year.
Yes, some of the sales are still on. Question is how are we going to keep up with the shopping if we’re supposed to be cutting back
?!

ShopWiki to beat the crowd
I almost dread going to the mall now that Chinese New Year is a few days away. When it’s crowded like that, I can barely focus on my shopping.
Traditionally we have several family dinners but I haven’t figured out yet what to cook. Worse yet, I need to upgrade some of my cooking utensils as we have more family members joining us this year.
I think I’ll just take the easy way out and just get my kitchen and dining products from ShopWiki where they have a huge selection of practically anything you need, not just the kitchen stuff.
They have millions of products for everything imaginable. I think that’ll be my best bet because frankly, I just don’t have the time to be dodging festive shoppers and waiting endlessly in lines.
I’ve got lots to do in the next few days and I could save myself a lot of time and stress just shopping at ShopWiki. Okay, I’m going to check them out now.

the lion dances have started
The lion dances have started. These days, they start early even before Chinese New Year. I watched my first one this year at 1 Utama last weekend. It was brilliant as usual. I think it’s our international lion dance champions performing there. Sorry I don’t know the name of the troupe.
Gotta love how the lion sails effortlessly through the air to land ever so softly on the next set of raised stilts. I haven’t uploaded the photos I took last weekend but here’s one I took last year of the same lion dance troupe at their best.

If you happen to be shopping at 1 Utama this weekend, be sure to check out the lion dance schedule.
