the fashion show freaks strike again!

We’re having a freakin’ hot spell lately, no rain except for yesterday’s so-called downpour which barely helped to cool us down much. Thankfully Fashion on 1 is back at 1 Utama and the girls and I had a blast last weekend. We’re big, big fans of fashion shows. This is annual event we can watch for free.

Sure there must be many other fashion shows going on around the city but sometimes the location is way out or there’s a time clash and we can’t make it there to watch.

But Fashion on 1 is great in that the fashion shows are on every hour om the hour so if we miss one or two, we can always catch the next one, and we get to sit down in air-conditioned comfort like civilized people and watch the models strut down the runway.

eating out may still be affordable

Right, so I was out with a girl friend this morning. We went to the mall but we didn’t go there to shop, just for breakfast.

It was kinda wierd that they were serving rice and spring rolls. For breakfast? Come on! That stuff is too heavy for the first meal of the day. We’d need to swallow some safe appetite suppressants before heading out for lunch.

By the way, if you care to look around, there are lots of places offering cheap meals these days in order to keep afloat in this economic crisis. So there’s still some fairly good food to be had if you keep your eyes peeled for promotions.

waiting for the sales

I’ve had such a great weekend shopping, well, mostly window-shopping. I’m waiting for the sales which should be any day now. In fact, if I’m smart, I’d better get my insurance online now or I won’t have time when the sales start.

I’ve started making out my shopping list for the things I usually buy in bulk like toiletries and detergents. When you have 3 growing kids, there’s never an end to topping up stuff, I tell ya. Now let me go check where the sales are at.

tired of the PC fair

So the PC Fair has come and gone. We didn’t buy much at all this time except for a couple of MP3 headphones and some computer memory cards.

I think the thing is they’re having these fairs too often. It’s not like anyone really needs to upgrade or replace their equipment every 3-4 months.

So these days, we go for a quick look around and we’re out of there. No point lingering around because it’s so crowded and if you hang around much longer, there’s always a chance you’ll get yourself talked into buying something you don’t need.

our Fast and Furious weekend

Last weekend, we watched “Fast and Furious”. I mean, what else do you do if you get free tickets and free popcorn to boot? And of course, we loved the movie. It had us on the edge of our seats from start to finish.

Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) teams up again to go after the bad guys after Dom loses his girlfriend. Plenty of hot car chases down narrow ravine paths complete with rolling wrecks and tire screeches.

If you’re at loose ends this weekend, you’ve just got to go watch this movie. And go watch it at the cinema for the sound effects and chair-grippig excitement !

twice to the same mall in a day

Today’s been one of the craziest Saturdays we’ve had in a while. I’ve been at the mall practically the entire day. In the morning, I was there to drop off my daughter at the movies with her friends. I didn’t want to have to drive back later to pick her up so I thought I’d get some shopping done there while she was at the movies.

Later in the afternoon, we were back at the same mall again, this time for my girls’ music lesson. Duh! I’ve been on my feet for hours walking up and down that mall, and it’s not a small mall, okay?  Some people might need bed wedges to help them sleep but I’m so tired I think I’m just going to fall asleep the moment my head hits the pillow tonight.
