fashionable medical wear

Posted by clair on , fashion & style, health & beauty,

Alright, first you have the medical professionals going high tech with pocket PCs and what not, and now it seems they’re into high fashion too. I met a cousin over the weekend who recently graduated as a doctor. Yes, she’s the bold and brainy among us!

She had a whole bunch of us mere minions gathered around her as she mesmerized us with stories of her course and now her new job. She showed us photos of her working her rounds and treating patients. Nothing unusual about that. But what really surprised us was that her koi uniforms are brightly colored in chic prints and quite frankly, if she hadn’t told us, none of us would ever have known she’s a doctor!

Yep, apparently, medical professionals have turned fashionable these days with their brightly colored koi scrubs. Even the koi scrub pants are just like what you would wear to lunch with a girl friend, not to a medical job!

It impressed the heck out of us. If you’re a medical professional, you should seriously check out the Scrubs and Beyond website which is where she and her colleagues order their unconventional attire which I dare say would brighten up anyone’s day!

are you a pill popper?

Posted by clair on , health & beauty, talk shop,

When I was at my regular vitamin store recently, I overheard a lady asking the staff to recommend her a colon cleansing pill. All I can say is that I remember a time when such things didn’t exist and our great-grandparents were okay. So what gives?

Anyhow it seems I’m always running out of vitamins because we, the family, are so religious about taking them that it scares me sometimes. With all the mad dash city lives we lead, who is to say we’re getting all the nutrients we need? Hence supplements. So are you a pill popper or pill popping family?

vain is what vain does

Posted by clair on , health & beauty, talk shop,

Each time we walk past the tattoo shop at the mall, my kids would fake a shudder. As if they’ve ever had a tattoo done  . The stick-on ones are quite fun because they wash off after a few days.

Anyhow some of the kids from school decided to play a prank on one of the vain girls. They took her to that tattoo shop and said they do acne scar removal here and that she can just walk in and ask for it. The poor girl fell for the trick and promptly came walking back out with a disappointed look. Kids!

out of shampoo

Posted by clair on health & beauty

Can you believe we ran of hair shampoo? Great, this has never happened before, I’m such a chronic bulker shopper.

But lately we’re experimenting with different brands of shampoos because we always seem to end up with brands that make our heads itch or something.

They sure don’t make shampoo like they used to. Or is it the water? Just looking for something to blame here  .

beat the heat

Posted by clair on , health & beauty,

The weather is so hot these days I’ve been guzzling water like crazy… and getting my kids to do the same, otherwise I’ll be running around shopping for acne treatment as the heat tends to cause unwanted skin flare-ups. If water doesn’t work, chrysanthemum tea can be quite effective.

Okay so I know how to keep us all hydrated but what about when the afternoon heat sends my kids to sleep instead of doing their homework? Yep, with the airconditioning on, it’s even more conducive for sleeping. Any ideas on how to stay awake besides drinking coffee which the kids are not allowed to?

eyebags away!

Posted by clair on , food & drink, health & beauty,

I did the ultimate stupid thing after dinner last night and finished up the two sips of coffee I had left over in the fridge so I could wash up the cup. Well, those two sips of coffee left me awake half the night.

Now I’ve got eyebags the size of boxing gloves and SIL has invited us to lunch. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’m not sure if my eye wrinkle cream will work but I’m slobbing it on anyways. Wish me luck!!
