gotta beat the heat
I will be honest here. Much as I hate to complain about the warm weather when others are suffering snow-ins and cold weather, I do think these days of 90+ degrees and 90% humidity are pretty hard to bear.
Especially for someone like me who’s in and out of the house 20 times a day, know what I mean? Since I’m not in the habit of turning on the air-conditioning, I’m thinking I definitely need some window blinds to keep out the sun and the heat. Any suggestions on what else I can do?

are you in the market for a house?
I was having dinner with a group of friends recently and one of them said they’re looking to buy a house soon. I was a little shocked. In this current state of the economy? I asked. Okay, so then I was given the impression that there is a certain wisdom in buying property while the economy is weak.
So apparently now’s the time to be looking at property if you are so inclined. Let’s face it, there’s still lots of buying and selling regardless of the state of the economy. If you happen to be looking around and find some house plans that tickle your fancy, then why the heck not?
Well, apparently you can find a wide range of plan options at HousePlansandMore.com. They even have some cozy cabin plans that look kinda interesting to me. I’d love to have a home office in the countryside overlooking nature’s playground. I bet I’ll be much more productive there too with fewer distractions.
The thing I really like about ready-made house floor plans is that you don’t have to engage an architect and have to go through rounds of drafts to achieve the effect you like. Just pick and go. That’s what I really like.

the coolest room in the house
With this super-hot weather with super high humidity we’re having, anyone would be happy to be a frog hiding in a bathroom. I have 3 showers a day and right now, all I can say is the bathroom’s the coolest room in the house.
I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone were rushing to upgrade to a Bathroom Suite seeing as how much time they might just be spending in there. Maybe the guys at BetterBathrooms.com are reading our minds because they’re holding a stock clearance sale, so if anyone’s interested, they have some great prices on pretty bathrooms.
All I can say is that if the bathroom is air-conditioned, it’d even be better
. Yes, quite honestly, it’s that unbearably hot and I read in the news, this stretch is going to go on for another month at least.
I was out for lunch this afternoon and I chose to linger around in the restaurant long after I was done with my meal. The restaurant serves unlimited refills on iced drinks and and I just wanted to enjoy the air-conditioning for another half hour before getting out into the blazing parking lot. That’s how bad it is. I hope it rains tonight.

washing machine woes, part 2
In the continuing saga of my washing machine (read part 1 here), it has stopped working altogether. The repairman, who also owns an appliance store, has recommended I buy a new washing machine… from him… since it might cost another arm and a leg to repair.
Now I’m in two minds. To repair or to buy. Both will cost me
!! If I repair, how long will it be before it kaputs again? If I buy a new one and this one is repairable, it’ll be a waste of money. DILEMMA!
On a side note, I’m convinced the repairman is a scam and just trying to get me to pay for a new machine. Am I over-reacting? Maybe. Maybe not since when he came the first time, he hardly tried to troubleshoot. He merely changed a part, charged me for it and left. As it turned out, the machine failed again afterwards which means it’s possible the part he changed wasn’t even the problem to start with. So what do you think?

washing machine woes
I’ve been busy, busy, busy! And now my washing machine has to go and break down. The repairman has been in twice and stayed about 5 minutes each time. He has since swapped one part and charged me an arm and a leg for it. The second time the spin-dry stopped, he came in, gave the front panel a few knocks and it was back up running so he left without doing anything.

down comes the gate!
I looked out my window yesterday and saw my neighbor’s house minus the electronic gate. No prizes for guessing, she reversed her car into the gate bringing it crashing to the ground. Time to shop for a new gate
!
This is what happens when you’re too darned lazy to turn your steering wheel and you have no sense of judgement! For a 39-year-old woman who’s been driving for 20 years, I think there’s no excuse. at. all!
I’m not sure how she managed to drag the fallen gate from the street back into her front yard yesterday. I know there’s motorhome towing but gate towing? Never heard of it!
