exercising for the wrong reason

Whenever I go out shopping, I always end up eating out. How about you? I think it’s true with most people simply because of the convenience.

Well then, since most people go shopping or hang out with friends on the weekend, that’s when they probably consume the most food.

This probably explains why the gym I go to is jam-packed on the days just before the weekend. One lady told me she needs to exercise so she can pack in more food on the weekend.

She says, for the amount she eats, even the best diet pill couldn’t get her to lose weight quick enough before the next weekend’s binge. I was like… duh!

I mean, I eat too when I’m out on the weekend but I don’t typically eat much more than I normally would. Why would I?

don’t worry, be happy

A friend of mine made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight and over this past half year, that’s exactly what she’s been trying to do. To me, she’s not exactly fat but maybe that’s how she views herself.

She’s been working out religiously but she swears she’s not seeing the results she has been hoping to see. In fact, lately she signed up for twelve lessons with a personal trainer so she can learn how to make her workouts more effective.

Well, now that she’s completed her personal training program, she’s found that she’s actually put on weight!! Bah!! I told her muscle weighs more than fat. She says yes but she sure didn’t look like she believed me.

Instead the next thing she’s going to do is get started on fat burners to see if they’ll help. It’s already mid-August, she tells me, the clock is ticking. She has to “get in shape” for that Christmas party!!

And I’m going, why can’t people be happy with what they have??

what it takes to build bulk

Admittedly I’m a gym freak. But I try to limit myself because I don’t want to end up with the physique of a female body builder.

I’m not in competition so I don’t need to, nor do I want to muscles strapped across my arms and legs.

And that’s exactly what I told one of my gym buddies who suggested that I pump up my workouts to achieve even more muscle definition.

But he says it’s harder for women to build that bulk and even for the men, they need to be consuming bodybuilding supplements to help them achieve the physique we often associate with body builders.

If what he says is true, then I can let loose a little maybe, eh!

even golfers are feeling the pinch

DH’s buddies are organizing a Cobra golf weekend getaway. I tell ya, it’s getting really expensive to play golf these days so the guys have actually cut back lately.

But you know how what they say about die-hard golf fanatics! You won’t find them sitting at home for long before they started getting all fidgety.

So this time, they’re booking cheaper flights and hotels than they used to. After all, they’ll be spending the whole day on the green, not in the hotel room, so they might as well spend that money on the game and the food. Makes sense.

thick skulls and weight loss

I met a personal trainer the other day who tried to talk me into signing up with him for a workout program. For some strange reason, people seem to assume that just because I’m a workout freak, I’m looking to lose weight.

I’m not fat, okay? I’m at my ideal weight and BMI and frankly, I’m a happy camper just toning her muscles and working on resistance training. Nothing wrong with that, I hope.

If I were looking to lose weight, I’d be buying those hilarious Osim butt  rocking contraptions and accessing one Anoretix review after another in trying to shed  some pounds.

Fact is I’m so not looking to lose weight. But no matter how I try to explain to this trainer guy, he can’t seem to get it into his thick skull. Grrr!
