I love grocery shopping. Hard to believe though it is but it’s the highlight of my week to stroll down the grocery aisle in search of items I will need for next week’s menu plan. I don’t really buy much these days, just enough for the week.
This is my new strategy to not have stuff pile up in my fridge and go stale. If I buy less, I’d have room for fresh greens and meat every week. Seems to be working quite well, this new plan of mine. Let’s see how this goes.
I love shopping but lately the malls have become way too crowded for my liking. I would’ve thought that with online shopping being so popular these days, the malls would be less of an attraction and therefore would be quieter. I don’t like crowds, especially when people seem to have no concept of personal space and no respect for other people.
I’ve gotten to the point of avoiding the malls on weekends and to restrict myself as far as possible to grocery shopping only on the weekdays.
One of the biggest letdowns to a fun-filled shopping day is when your credit card gets denied for no reason other than that it’s have a bad day. Whatever that means. I’ve had this happen on more than a couple of instances for no apparent reason and it was really frustrating.
The card would work in one store but not in another. There was no rhyme or reason. Logically if it works once, it should work twice. On what basis would it discriminate between stores or transactions? Whatever the reason, I intend to find out.
It seems strange for a shopaholic to say this but it seems I only shop once a year. It started out as an experiment to see how well I can control myself when given the opportunity to shop. Who knew I would have such a strong willpower to go to the mall and not buy anything?
But let me be the first to admit, it is possible. It’s just like losing weight. If you set your mind to it and tell yourself often enough to only shop for things that you absolutely need, you will succeed. It’s not easy but it can be done.
The Memorial Day sales were a blast. I love shopping for bargains and I really had a good time going from store to store in search of great buys.
And I did succeed in grabbing lots of bargains even though I didn’t quite care for the very hot weather and scorching sun. When I shop, I tend to forget everything and just focus on finding the best buys.
I’m looking to buy a washing machine and dryer. My set has been slowly but gradually malfunctioning for a while and although I’ve been trying to stretch it waiting for a appliance discount, I’m pretty sure it won’t last forever.
So it’s off to shop this weekend regardless. I was hoping to save some money by waiting but sometimes things don’t work out as we plan. Well, so be it. If I have to spend a bit more, it’s better than having to do laundry by hand. That would be unthinkable.
